What Is CPR?

CPR, which stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is a life saving emergency procedure given to a person in cardiac arrest. Through repeated chest compressions, CPR works to restore the blood circulation and breathing of a person. CPR can be used when a person’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped, this may occur after cardiac or respiratory arrest, drowning, suffocation, choking or injury.

CPR chest compressions are performed by pressing up and down on a victim’s chest, but must be performed correctly in order to truly be effective and beneficial. This is why it is so important to have proper training. CPR essentially takes over the role of the heart and lungs, pumping blood and oxygen around the body, but if not done correctly or quickly, it could cost a person further injury or even their life.

Through CPR training at Heart II Heart Safety, you will learn the techniques and knowledge needed to give you the confident ability to help keep a person alive until help arrives following natural health emergencies such as a heart attack or when tragedy hits such as the events that unfolded in Las Vegas last October.

What Is First Aid?

First Aid is the medical attention given to a person with sudden injury or illness. First Aid can be critical for saving a life, preventing a condition from becoming worse, or even promoting recovery. First aid involves actions that will provide a person with the best opportunity for a positive outcome following an injury or medical situation.

First aid can be used to provide effective care in a variety of situations such as:

  • asthma attacks
  • allergic reactions
  • anaphylaxis
  • cuts, scrapes, scratches
  • burns
  • choking
  • diabetic emergencies
  • injury
  • stroke
  • seizures
  • drowning
  • internal or external bleeding
  • dehydration
  • traumatic injury or wounds

With comprehensive First Aid training from Heart II Heart Safety, you will have the knowledge needed to help you to take action quickly in times of emergency or when tragic events take place.
